Work Experience
Manager of Online Learning, Sustainable Forestry Initiative
2022-2025
I spearheaded initiatives within a globally recognized environmental education organization by designing hybrid and virtual teach-the-teacher professional development, interactive learner training, and national-scale educational research projects. I collaborated with SMEs to develop tailored content for diverse audiences. I managed budgets ($50,000-$100,000) and supervised teams for multi-year grants, coordinating with federal and state-level organizations to ensure compliance and maximize impact across national and organizational borders.
Independent Learning Strategy Consultant
2017-Current
Starting in 2017, I have delivered boutique learning design solutions as an independent consultant, advising teams on aligning their goals and technology with evidence-based learning theory. My successes include designs for the International Game Developers Association, The United Nations Environmental Programme, Codespark, EPIC Games (Fortnite), The Arsht-Rockefeller Resilience Center, ustwo Games, and the Entrepreneurial Operating System. In these roles, I led internal teams, facilitated communication between teams, and managed project budgets and timelines, resulting in measurable learning and efficiency impacts.
Penn State - Graduate Research & Design Fellow
2019-2021
During my two year fellowship at Penn State, I developed multiple tools and frameworks for confronting online education challenges. I advised in the Dutton Institute for Teaching and Learning Excellence, a leader in remote learning innovation and collaborated with the Data-Empowered Learning team to develop new data insight tools across the Canvas LMS. I also created and led two teams of edtech researchers: one team developed the Emergency Remote Teaching Environment Framework- a pioneering COVID-responsive learning design model used globally; the launched Environmental Game Design Playbook, now an industry standard for teaching environmental issues through digital games adopted by multiple university curricula, the European Union STRATEGIES HORIZON project, and the United Nations.
Wilson Center - Research Intern
Developed policy recommendations and proposals in the field of environmental education for U.S. congressional staff and executive branch staff.
2021
Whittle & Partners - VP of Learning and Development
Authored and conducted executive leadership and management training within the Entrepreneurial Operating System. Grew clientele base by 30%. Authored experiential learning programs.
2017-2019
Goblin Ink Press - Game Designer and Writer
2016 - 2020
Goblin Ink Press was initially a group of three D&D content producers simply publishing under the same name. It has since grown to release several best-selling and award winning D&D publications and employ dozens of freelance game designers, writers, and other amazing creators. As the lead game designer, I oversee the organization's mechanical content creation and process management. Key responsibilities include: overseeing the creative projects, coordinating contributors, managing the group's digital presence and building relationships with industry personalities. Mostly, though, I just keep the goblins from turning on each other.
Wakefield Studios - Game Designer and Writer
Content writer, dialogue & story editor, communications coordinator, game mechanics designer, combat AI designer, level designer. Worked on the War of the Shard project from end to end. The project was sold for limited license to Kongregate and launched publicly in late 2015.
2014 - 2015
Dankook University - Assistant Professor
2013-2017
During my four year contract at Dankook University, I served as an assistant professor of education. Beyond teaching and mentoring students, I led the team that developed DELRE, an experimental game-based learning environment that replaced traditional textbooks in ESL/EFL classrooms. This initiative, designed using evidence-based methods was deployed department-wide and correlated with a quantifiable increase in student performance and engagement.
